029 – Radical Caribbean Cup

The 2020 track racing season gets underway with the Radical Caribbean Cup.  I caught up with series coordinator Kurt Seabra and asked him about plans for this year.

I also got a chance to talk to some of the drivers who were out on track ahead of Round 1 at Bushy Park to get their feedback.

Raymond Seebran – Guyana
Kristian Boodoosingh – Trinidad
Luke Bhola – Trinidad
Suleman ‘Sol’ Esuf – Barbados

028 – Rally Sweden 2020

I made it!  Bucket List item complete!  I made it to my first ever WRC event, and what drama leading up to it.

Unusually warm weather meant no snow and no ice.  The rally was on the verge of being cancelled.

This episode is very short, because there is a YouTube video, so go and check it out!

027 – Robin Bradford

You know the voice, the unmistakable English bloke who does commentary and press for motorsport events in Barbados (and sometimes other places too).

So what does he think about motorsport in the Caribbean?

How does he manage to keep talking for so long?

Who does he think is the best driver in the Caribbean?

All these questions are answered in this very special Christmas episode

026 – Crabbs Raceway Antigua

In this episode I speak with “Macgyver” Donelan on the topic of Crabbs Raceway in Antigua.  A dirt track which can be configured to many different courses for both Rally Sprint and Rally Cross.

I also asked him what it’s like living in a household of BimmaCup-ers, and about the motorsport scene in Antigua.

024 – Road to Rally Barbados 2020 (part 3)

In this episode it’s just me… I get you up to speed on what’s been happening since my last rally adventure in the wet.

Also a bit on the RallySafe system, and some tips on budgeting.  I’ve already blown my budget for the year, and there are still a few events left to do.

023 – Road to Rally Barbados 2020 (part 2)

Part 2 of my journey to do Rally Barbados 2020.

In part 1, I did my first road event.  For part 2 it is my first rally.  Also happens to be evening into night.  Oh, and did I mention the impending Tropical Storm Karen?  All this added up to an eventful Saturday night out in the Bajan countryside.

Irish cameraman Chris Hylands joined me in the co-driver’s seat, as he was here doing a piece on the BimmaCup.

Zane wins F4 Rookie Cup

Zane Maloney is switching his focus to the overall F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost crown after securing the Rookie Cup title last weekend at Knockhill, Fife.

The Carlin ace has 17 victories in class, along with a further four podium finishes, and holds an unassailable lead of 156.5 points over Arden’s Alex Connor with a maximum score of 150 left on the table.

The runner-up spot in class in the middle race at Knockhill proved enough, with Maloney now turning his focus solely to the overall championship, in which he holds a 15-point margin over Double R’s Sebastian Alvarez heading to Silverstone and Brands Hatch.

“I’m really happy to get the Rookie Cup title done,” said Maloney.

“That was one of the targets for my first year, and now I’ve achieved that we can focus on building the overall points lead.

I’m grateful for everything the team has done this year and proud to get a championship for Barbados, my sponsors and Kokoro Performance. I think we have a good chance of securing the overall title if we keep the momentum going.”

022 – Road to Rally Barbados 2020 (part 1)

Ever wondered what it takes to do the biggest rally in the Caribbean? Well follow me along on my journey as I check an item off my bucket list… Rally Barbados 2020!

In part 1, I show you what you need to get started in rallying. I then get my first taste of driving on a closed public road. Words can’t describe what an adrenaline rush that was! Nigel Reece (an experienced driver and co-driver) sat next to me and gave me some coaching. So useful!!!

This podcast is meant to go along with a video on YouTube, as there is a lot of “show and tell”, which isn’t really possible with audio only.
